Celebrating Not Again's 100th review!
A Review by Annie McDonnell (Author of Annie's Song):
Henriksen is a talented storyteller!
Not Again: (Not Again Series Book 1)” by Maria T. Henriksen is a story lifted off the Pages and brought to life.
Each experience and how they were handled were beyond visceral. I was moved by how real the story felt. I often found myself checking to see if it was a true story, only to find out it was fictional.
Henriksen’s first installment in this coming-of-age story has left me wanting more. Desperately wanting more!
I am thrilled that we will get to see how the town grows through the years.
I loved reliving my 80’s, which is so iconic! I found myself talking in lingo from the 80’s or humming the tunes.
Brilliant choice to use these years as we learn about Christina and Avery. They are very remarkable to recall.
The trials and tribulations surrounding them and the circumstances that live in the town are truly like that in real life. I bet you’ll find yourself or someone you know among the pages. Kudos to the subject matter being addressed!
I genuinely cared about the outcome for all involved in the story.
I have to say that Henriksen blew me away!!
I dare you to walk away feeling like you don’t need to read the entire series, or to want to know more about the author, Maria T. Henriksen.
I cannot wait to read the next book in the series. Join me!
Sidebar: While it is Christian Fiction, I feel that anyone that enjoys friendship fiction would devour this book, just as quickly.

"This was an amazing book. It absolutely transcends any labels of Christian or teen. The author was deft in her handling of difficult subject matter. The book was completely convincing and I was engaged from start to finish. I have even recommended it to my 15 year old who I think is mature enough for the subject matter. Highly highly recommend!" ~ Reviewer
"Christina and her journey feel very real, authentic, and relatable in both joys and struggles. Consequently, her path to faith seems believable too. The rather large cast of supporting characters is peppered with familiar personalities as well, and they serve to immerse the reader in the story's 80s adolescent world.
Overall, Not Again is a deep, impactful novel and, with its topics of faith, sexual purity, trauma, and recovery, it would likely be a beneficial read for young women." ~ Chloe S. Flanagan, Author
"This book is a story of a spiritual battle within Christina. It's one that isn't easy. Why does God allow things to happen? Where is He when things are falling apart? I appreciate the scripture passages that Ms. Henriksen weaves through the story at the perfect place for the message to come forth. This book delves into issues that are difficult. There are scenes that made me cringe and cry for Christina. There are situations that most teens face and and the choices they make that can change their lives drastically. I love the message in this book that each individual can choose their destiny through their faith and belief in God.
I think this book is inspiring in that there is a way to overcome. It's one that I would recommend to older teens particularly because of the subject matter and situations Christina finds herself in. It's a challenge to young women to be true to themselves and be the person God created them to be.
I hope and pray the message Ms. Henriksen shares resonates with many readers. It has spoken to my heart even though it's been many years since I was a teen facing many of the same situations. God's word is eternal."

"This is a very well written book that will hold your attention from beginning to end. This is a book that you don't want to end, but you just have to know what's going to happen next. It is written in such a way that you feel all the emotions of the people in the story. It has drama, suspense and romance and is told from a young girl's point of view from freshman year to senior year. I highly recommend this book." ~ Reviewer
"...writing style was mind blowing... Maria's story is a good one with a lot of good messages for teenagers. I loved all the references to all the celebrities of the 70s as it made me smile to remiss about the good old days. Plus, all the 80s movies she mentioned were my fave growing up."
